Tree Planting Kereita Forest
n 10th October 2024, π±
over 5,000 seedlings were
successfully planted in Kereita
Forest, forming the southern tip of
the Aberdare Ranges, a crucial water
catchment for Nairobiβs water
supply π§. The tree planting event
was a collaborative effort led by the
Rotary Clubs of Nairobi Muthaiga
North and Nairobi Langata, along
with key partners including the
Kenya Forest Service (KFS) π³, the
Kenya Forestry Research Institute
(KEFRI) π², the Centre for
Ecosystem Restoration, Foundation
Frankilinia, The Global Biodiversity
Standard, and the UN Decade for
Ecosystem Restoration π. The
trees were planted adjacent to a
previous project by RC Nairobi
Muthaiga North, further
contributing to the conservation and
restoration of the vital ecosystem.
