Rotary Club Nairobi Muthaiga North Secures Strategic Partnership for Saikeri Peace Project in Kajiado 2024-2025

On July 25, 2024, the Rotary Club of Nairobi Muthaiga North (RC NMN) embarked on a significant visit to Kajiado, aiming to forge a crucial partnership with the county government for the Saikeri Peace Project. This initiative seeks to foster community development and promote peace through sustainable social and physical infrastructure and resource management. The RC NMN delegation, led by the club president, included Immediate Past President (IPP) E. Mwangi the 10th, Service Project Director, International Relations Director, and Member Retention Director. The team met with key government officials, including the County Executive Committee (CEC) members for Lands and Trade, and the Saikeri Member of County Assembly (MCA).

The discussions were highly productive, culminating in a landmark decision by the CEC for Lands to allocate community development land for a market, bus park, and water borehole. This allocation represents a significant step forward in addressing the community’s essential needs and promoting economic growth and stability. The following day, the community, representing RC NMN delegation, participated in the ground breaking ceremony for the new ESP market being implemented by the State Department of Housing and Urban Development. This event marked the beginning of a series of developments that are expected to transform the Saikeri region. The ceremony was a testament to the strong commitment from the Rotary Club,National Government and the Kajiado county government to work hand-in-hand for the betterment of the local community.
The CEC for Lands and Trade, along with the Saikeri MCA, and representative of the State Department of Housing and Urban expressed their unwavering support and promised to walk with RC NMN throughout the project. This collaboration underscores the importance of public-private partnerships in achieving sustainable development goals. RC NMN President Rtn Flora Kinuthia remarked, “This partnership is a testament to what can be achieved when communities and governments come together with a common goal. We are committed to ensuring that the Saikeri Peace Project not only meets its objectives but also sets a precedent for future community development initiatives.” The Immediate Past President, E. Mwangi, added, “The allocation of land for essential infrastructure is a significant milestone. It is a clear indication of the county government’s commitment to improving the lives of the people of Saikeri. We look forward to seeing the positive impact these developments will have on the community.”

Service Project Director Rtn Mary Ndegwa, IR Director Rtn Leah Mburu and Member Retention Director Rtn Ken Mulwa echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration and support from all stakeholders. The Saikeri Peace Project represents a beacon of hope for the community, promising improved access to markets, transportation, clean water and also meet the agenda of the National Government on the bottom up Economic transformation agenda ( BETA). RC NMN’s commitment to this initiative is unwavering, and the club looks forward to seeing the fruits of this collaboration in the coming months.
As the project progresses, RC NMN will continue to work closely with all relevant Government agencies and the local community to ensure the successful implementation and sustainability of these essential developments. The ground breaking ceremony was just the beginning of a long and fruitful journey towards peace and prosperity for the people of Saikeri.
